Meet Anna
Music from an early age
One of Anna’s earliest music memories is waking up Saturday mornings to Dad making pancakes for breakfast and playing classical music on the radio.
Her family created a culture of music enjoyment, attending concerts and lessons, and practicing together.
Anna started piano lessons around age five, but her dream was to play the violin. Once she started playing the violin, it was a love-hate relationship with both instruments, based on which one was going better at the time. :)
Anna didn’t plan on making a career out of music; it was just fun to play with siblings and friends in orchestra. Music didn’t come easily though, and she struggled with technique and tendonitis issues. In university, she finally began to really understand music and how to play expressively without tension.
She found herself helping a friend learn to play the violin, then a younger student, and another. Teaching was so much fun, and the best part was helping students overcome obstacles she had encountered as a student!
